Sh. Joginder P. Kundra
President & Chairman | Sh. Joginder Kundra has been associated with INSAF from its inception, and is a former Board Member. He notes, “I embraced INSAF as it makes me not to forget where I came from; a country with very limited resources bearing the cost of my engineering education and giving the wings to fly. Without that I could not have got what I got out of my life.” Over the years, he has been an INSAF Project Leader for several major projects.
Joginder Ji graduated from RIT, Jamshedpur (now NIT) in 1967. He taught at the Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh for two years, followed by a brief stay at Punjab State Electricity Board, Patiala, before immigrating to the US in 1971. He earned a Master’s Degree in Mech. Engineering from Rutgers University in 1977.
Joginder Ji has been associated with the Oil & Gas and Chemical Industries for over 40 years, 33 years with Mobil and then ExxonMobil. During that time he had a chance to meet people in over 40 countries and learn from their cultures and values.
Joginder Ji and his wife, Meera, live on the East Coast and have three children and seven grandchildren, who all live on the east coast in drivable distances.

Ms. Padmashri Lad
V. P. Communications | Until very recently, Ms. Padmashri Lad had been the HR/Operations Manager with the Christensen Fund, a Private Foundation, located in San Francisco, CA, promoting biocultural diversity around the world. She enjoys conducting research and interpreting data to support financial decisionmaking. Padmashri earned her B.Sc. from Fergusson College in Pune, India. She also earned an MBA from the Institute of Management Development & Research in Pune. Padmashri and her husband Dr. Raj Lad are long-time Members and volunteers of INSAF. |
Dr. A. J. Poulose
V.P. Finance | A. J. Poulose was born in Kerala. He obtained BSc/MSc in Physics from Kerala University and moved to the US in 1974 for graduate studies. In 1978 he received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Washington State University. After doing post doctoral/assistant scientist jobs at Washington State, in 1984 he joined Genencor, a biotech start up, as a Scientist. AJ is currently retired after 32 years of work taking on different roles in the same company which had gone through multiple mergers and acquisitions to become a part of the Dow-DuPont Company. AJ and his wife Thankamma live in Belmont CA. They have three kids and two grandkids, all of them living in the Bay area. AJ currently keeps busy with grandkids and enjoying retirement. He and Thankamma are Life Members and have been active in several INSAF projects for over a decade. |
Mr. P. K. Malhotra
Director | P.K. Malhotra is one of the founders of INSAF and has been the President of INSAF for several years. He lives in Davenport, Florida with his wife Suresh. They have two children and three grandchildren. He is retired now and volunteers in charity organizations and is active in local cultural clubs. PK's hobbies include walking, travelling, playing golf and Bocce ball, playing cards and working on house projects. He is a sponsor and Project Leader of “Seva Bharti Abohar”, one of INSAF’s on-going projects. Prior to his retirement, P.K. worked for several decades in the fields of microencapsulation, specialized paper coatings, adhesives, and food & flavor industries. P.K. holds a master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from University of Dayton, Dayton, Ohio. |
Mr. Om Prakash Garg
Director | Sh. Om Prakash Garg has been an INSAF member for over 45 years and has been a supporter of several INSAF projects. He has a Masters in Geology (1966) from Panjab Univ. Chandigarh, and a Masters in Mining (1970) from U. of Saskatchewan, Canada. He had a 17-year career with Hena Mining, where after 7 promotions, he was Director of Mine Planning at the company’s headquarters in Cleveland, OH when he took early retirement in 1987 to become an entrepreneur. In 1993, Om was one of 3 promoters who started Cupid Ltd., in Nashik, Maharashtra, where he has been Chairman and Director since 1998. Om has actively managed the company since 2007, frequently traveling back and forth between Nashik and Cleveland, along with his wife and business partner Veena Garg, also an INSAF member. Under Om’s guidance, Cupid became the first company in India, and only the second in the world, to achieve Pre-Qualification by WHO/UNFPA for female condoms for Worldwide Distribution. Over the last 20 years, Om has traveled to over 35 countries on 6 continents. Om has been very interested in social and community activities, both at the Corporate Social Responsibility level and at the personal level as exemplified by the “Narnaul Project”. Om and Veena have 3 children (two married daughters, and a son), all settled in the U.S. |
Mr. Rajeev Paliwal
Director | Rajeev Paliwal has been an INSAF member for over two decades and has previously served as a Project Leader. He becomes the first INSAF Board Member from the “next generation”. Rajeev is Director of Sales Enablement at Icertis in Bellevue, WA. Rajeev lives in Bellevue, WA with his wife Saloni Mavani, son Kamron (18), and daughter Amara (13)). He is the son of Dr. Ramesh and Shmt. Pratibha Paliwal. Born in Fategarh, U.P., India, Rajeev moved to the US at age 5. He attended Rutgers University (B.A. Economics) and Columbia Business School (MBA), and moved to the Pacific Northwest in 2005. He has worked at Bellcore/Telcordia, Microsoft, The Game Agency, & Tableau (acquired by Salesforce) before recently joining Icertis. At Rutgers, Rajeev was Treasurer & President of Rutgers Community Outreach (RCO) and led various community programs (Big Brother / Big Sister, Habitat for Humanity, Senior citizens Support, and various other non-profit fundraising efforts). In years past, he has also directly managed and supported INSAF programs such as Sristi Education project. Additionally, in his free time Rajeev enjoys hiking, biking, kayaking, and taking full advantage of the beautiful Pacific Northwest. |
Ms. Anita Sra
Director | Ms. Anita Sra came to INSAF in the footsteps of her late father, Sh. Chani Sra. Sh. Chani Ji became an INSAF member in 2011 and supported several projects, including as the sole sponsor to build a preschool in his native village of Berchha, district Hoshiarpur, Punjab. He was also a strong supporter to help build a girls’ dormitory for the Kaliyuva Mane residential school in Mysore, Karnataka. After Sh. Chani Ji passed away in 2020, Anita joined INSAF as a lifetime member to continue her father’s support for education in India. She is currently a project leader and supporter of Banwasi Kanya Chhatrawas in Uttarakhand. Anita was born and grew up in the United States, living in several different states over her childhood. She attended Carnegie Mellon University (Bachelor of Science) and the University of Chicago Law School (JD). Since law school, Anita has worked at firms in several cities in the US and internationally, including New York, London and Singapore. Currently she lives in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. |

Dr. Bhavender Paul Sharma
Newsletter & Website Editor | Bhav is a co-founder and has been a committed worker for INSAF throughout INSAF's 50 year existence. He was born in Patiala, Punjab, and came to the U.S. in 1969 after a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Eng. from Panjab Univ., Chandigarh. Bhav earned his Masters in Chem Eng. and Ph.D. in Biochem Eng. from Rutgers Univ, New Brunswick, NJ. He retired in 2013 after a 37 year career in Biotech and Pharma industries; his last position being V.P. Manfacturing & Process Dev. at Geron Corp, a small pharma company in California. After retirement, Bhav taught as an Adjunct Prof. at the Indian Institute of Technology, Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, and at the Jawaharlal Nehru Univ. New Delhi during 2013-2017. Since 2018, Bhav has been a volunteer career counselor, much of it remotely, for students from disadvantaed families in India. He is also a regular volunteer with Tax-Aid, a U.S. nonprofit which helps low income people file their tax returns. Bhav and his wife Kaye, who has also been a consistent worker throughout for INSAF, live in San Mateo, CA. They have a daughter, Anjana, who is a primary care physician, and a son, Neal, who is in Wild Life Conservation. Their daughter and son-in-law, Bhavjot, have a daughter and a son. |
